RENEWABLES
BESS
Design and implementation of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for the storage of energy produced from renewable sources.
Battery Energy Storage Systems are electrochemical devices capable of converting electrical energy into chemical energy or vice versa, depending on their operating mode.
Energy storage is a fundamental element of green energy production, based on renewable sources such as solar and wind, which are inherently intermittent: without sunlight or wind, there is no production. This is where BESS systems come into play, one of the fastest-growing technologies in the sustainable energy sector. BESS systems allow for the storage of excess energy produced in batteries, to be used during periods of low or insufficient production.
I Vantaggi dei BESS
A battery energy storage system offers significant advantages in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability. BESSs allow for better utilization of energy produced from renewable sources and management of energy demand peaks, thus reducing the costs associated with expanding or reconfiguring distribution networks.
Tipi di impianti BESS
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) can utilize different types of batteries. Among the main types of batteries used in BESS, lithium-ion batteries (Li-ion) certainly occupy a significant share of the market, covering almost 90% of the demand.
However, there are other alternative battery types, already in use or under study, demonstrating the significant growth and innovation in the sector. These include lead-acid batteries, redox flow batteries, sodium-sulfur batteries, sodium-ion cells, or lithium-sulfur cells.
